HSC launch Hospitality Supervisors programme15 January 2019
International tourist arrivals to South Africa grew to 10.3 million in 2018 making it the second most visited country in Africa after Morocco. The recent PWC report indicated a growth in hotel rooms and tourism over the next 5 years. In reaction to this the demand for skills keeps growing.
Employers have been concerned about their ability to meet this growth, along with the expectation of global standards of service, with qualified junior and middle management.
With this challenge in mind HSC, well known as a full-service staffing provider for hospitality, have launched HSC Training and its Supervisor development program.
The course is aimed at team leaders and supervisors in hotels, catering, clubs, restaurants and other related industries. The 6 month course emphasises leadership development, self-management and enhancing team performance.
“There is often a skills gap between management and supervisor level in hospitality” Says Chrismari du Toit senior training manager with HSC “developing supervisors and junior management will lead to better and more efficient service standards, communications and leadership on the floor”.
The six-month course is fully accredited by Services SETA at NQF level 4 and requires attendance for 2 days a month at HSC’s training hub in Randburg. “The course is excellent value, at just R3,000 it includes all course materials, lunch and other refreshments as well as assignment and exam fees” continued Chrismari.
“There are 12 separate modules covering Management of teams, self-management, training, team motivation, setting and achieving standards, enhancing team performance plus plenty of practical content on improving efficiencies in an organisation. Each graduate will receive an accredited qualification and certificate” added Chrismari.
Applicants for the course must demonstrate commitment to learning and have a minimum of 90% attendance in class. The course has been running successfully for over three years and is now available to all.
